At present, the fashion system acts as an essential factor for many young people in social identification with the rest of their peers. Through their external appearance they can recognize each other and show what they want to be and how they want to become, since finding their own identity is one of the objectives that are continuously pursued during adolescence.
In this way, fashion acts as a means of communication from individuality to
social collectivity; serving, in many cases as a nexus that provides a certain proximity and closeness with the rest of the individuals. Taking into account the stage of growth in which they are, in which only the group of equals are the ones who most understand the social reality they live, it may be difficult for adult individuals to find a way to solve the distancing or ignorance of teenagers.
From an educational perspective something similar happens. Teachers may find
inconveniences in their teaching work by the dividing line that prevents the establishment of closeness and understanding with the students, forgetting that the whole of society has to go through the stage of personal discovery and the positive and negative consequences that this entails.
It is thus proposed to show with this communication an educational tool that, through
artistic drawing and the fashion system, allow to facilitate the knowledge of the students. If during adolescence what is most evident is the need to find out who you are, the objective should be to find a means that allows you to know it. Some of the results obtained from the doctoral thesis presented this year will be shown, entitled "The influence of fashion on adolescent cultural identity", to illustrate some examples that can be developed in the classroom through the conjunction of fashion and art.
The artistic proposal developed consists of suggesting to the students the realization of self-portraits where they show the clothing with which they develop how they look and how they would like to be seen; indicating in each garment the establishment of the chosen fashion system. In such a way that, once the teachers compare the drawings obtained from each student with the corresponding cost of the illustrated garments that appear in the online catalogs of the fashion establishments chosen by the adolescents, they will be able to get an idea of what it is. the daily life that surrounds them.
Deriving these facts in the knowledge of the young people and in a display of confidence for the realization of an artistic activity in which their preferences and tastes count. At the moment in which it is investigated what identifies them through their clothing, it will be possible to establish that necessary trust.
Likewise, we want to value the importance that plastic education acquires for
enable the knowledge of the students.
