Anaïs Civit, Jasmina Llobet, María Mercè Compte, José Antonio Asensio, Julio César Ortega: Without you I am nothing. Co-creation experiences within the framework of the Degree in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona.

We present the development and results of the collaboration agreement between the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona and the International Festival of Sustainable Art of Catalonia (Drap-Art). On this occasion we will focus on the collaboration of the 2020 edition. Through the presentation of some examples of activities, such as the case of "Pedra-Paper-Tisora", the keys to the development of said agreement will be exposed as a fundamental activity for learning, with artistic creation as the center of education. We will show how the activities carried out in this framework represent a unique opportunity to put into practice and enhance the capacities of students from the approach of their own or collective initiatives. The students of the Degree, who participate through a Service-Learning agreement, have the opportunity to participate in an international festival in which they can propose creative actions or participate in some of the proposals by the teachers of the faculty. The events take place mainly in public spaces in the city of Barcelona and directly address citizens, groups and other social entities, emphasizing the public and social service nature of artistic production. The initiative is a model of success that can be extrapolated to other contexts, with a character that revolves around social issues, environmentalism, feminism, sustainability, etc. In this communication we want to highlight especially the co-creation actions as a viable model of collective art, knowledge transfer and exploration of new creation methodologies. Through these actions, both the artists and the citizens who participate in the proposal become an active and central agent of artistic creation. The final work materializes from the individual to the collective. To publicize the potential of these initiatives, we will focus on the “Pedra-Paper-Tisora” co-creation action. From a didactic sheet and the knowledge acquired in the subject of Laboratory of Techniques and Pictorial and Sculptural Materials of the Degree, the participating students are asked to create copies of recycled paper and paste of objects used as molds. During the co-creation action in the public space, the students exchange the copies of paper objects made, combining them and constructing new artifacts which they designate a name and a definition based on their possible utility or function. At this point speculation, creativity and impossible objects come into play resulting from the interaction and union of objects or fragments of them with a purpose based on the process of artistic creation.
