Fernando Herraiz García: An experience of learning in the classroom through visual research methods. An educational action within the context of the seminars on "Masculinities, gender and contemporary art.

Communication shows an educational action using research methods to learn among students. This action was developed within the context of the subject Masculinities, Gender and Contemporary Art taught in the Master of Visual Arts and Education. A constructionist approach (at the headquarters of the University of Barcelona).
The communication presents an experience in which the strategies of academic research were brought to the time and space of the university classroom, assuming them as educational methodologies. Working in this line, led the students to assume risks and responsibilities typical of those who learn in the company of other colleagues, in a similar way to the way of doing in a research group. The review of conceptual and methodological frameworks, as well as aspects and dilemmas related to the development of the action were negotiated and agreed upon through continuous dialogue and collaborative work, leading to the final production of textual and visual artifacts of various kinds. All this to provoke a construction of knowledge and personal deep learning (Ellsworth, 2005) coming into contact with their own bodies and senses of the self; and to try to break with established subjectivities through encounters with the real within the pedagogy of the event (Atkinson, 2009) through local flows around their own questions yet to be known (Atkinson, 2017).
The audiovisual that is presented narrates the experience collecting voices and actions plotted when reflecting on the gender subjectivities of the student-researchers who attended those seminars; the audiovisual version that is presented lasts 6 minutes, echoing relevant and significant moments of the experience.
